Moscow will celebrate its birthday from 1 to 10 September. Forty festive sites will open all over the city. The celebrations will culminate in a large-scale programme scheduled for 9 and 10 September on Tverskaya Street, which as usual will be converted into a pedestrian area for the City Day. The main theme of the festivities is “Moscow, a City Where History is Made.”
Moscow as the capital of Russia and an intellectual and educational centre has made a major contribution to the world heritage. For centuries, inventions, discoveries and achievements by Moscow scientists, explorers, architects, airmen, cosmonauts, cultural figures, athletes and soldiers became landmarks in Russian and world history. Dedicated to these will be interactive art objects and cultural and educational programmes at the venues.
Moscow is Behind Me contest
Win two tickets to 2018 FIFA World Cup or a year of free Wi-Fi in the metro without advertising or authorisation! All you need to do is make a selfie against the background of a signature Moscow landmark. And please smile – Moscow is behind you!
How to participate
Find one of the specialised photo points installed on Revolyutsii Square, Manezhnaya Square, Tverskaya Square, Kuznetsky Most Street, and Novy Arbat Street for City Day. Make your self-portrait with the help of a special media screen and choose a city landscape of your liking as the background. Your photo for the contest is ready and will be automatically sent to the participants’ database.
